Truck plows into sign over I-440, causing major delays in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Interstate 440 eastbound was closed near Hillsborough Street Friday afternoon.

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, a truck hit the sign causing it to fall down.

Raleigh police said the truck was a dump truck that had its bed up.

They said they found the dump truck down the road from the crash.

The driver of the dump truck will not face any charges, according to the police department.

At 3 p.m., crews removed the sign from the road using an excavator.

All lanes reopened to regular traffic at about 3:30 p.m.
