RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Commemorative Air Force High Sierra Squadron is a 501c3 flying museum based at the Reno Stead Airport. Home to the N3N Biplane and other historic aircrafts, the museum offers unique aviation experience, including rides in the WWII warbirds.
Right now, the museum is raising money to restore the yellow Navy N3N-3 biplane, N4009A, to its former glory. It was built in 1941 and was used as a primary trainer at the Naval Air Station in Glenview, Ill., from 1942-1945. These aircraft earned the nickname “YELLOW PERIL” due to their ability to shame inattentive pilots and contribute to them “washing out” of training.
HSS development officer, Blair Latos, and operations officer/check pilot, Mark Guerrero, stopped by Morning Break to invite the community to next week’s sip and paint fundraiser to help return the N3N to the sky…
