SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) – Drivers in Sparks should plan for detours starting Friday morning as sections of southbound Pyramid Way close for two weekends in July for major roadwork, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.
NDOT said crews will excavate and begin initial repaving as part of a $14 million project that started in February to resurface Pyramid Way and improve sidewalks and pedestrian crossings from Victorian Avenue to York Way. The corridor was last fully repaved in 2010.
“This project will fully resurface this section of Pyramid Way,” NDOT spokesperson Meg Ragonese said. “It will also bring a lot of important accessibility improvements that includes multiple activated pedestrian crossing signs. There will also be more accessible sidewalks and driveways as well.”
Closure schedule
- 10 a.m. Friday, July 10 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 13: Southbound Pyramid Way closed from McCarran Boulevard to Oddie Boulevard.
- 10 a.m. Friday, July 17 to 6 a.m. Monday, July 20: Southbound Pyramid Way closed from Oddie Boulevard to C Street.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via McCarran Boulevard during the closures, NDOT said. Business access will remain available through side streets and will be marked with signage. Eastbound and westbound Prater Way will remain open…
