RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – More than 400 animals are at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center. They were brought there by their owners who have been evacuated from their homes because of the Bug and Stallion Fires. This is the largest evacuation plan executed by Washoe County Regional Animal Services and owners say they are eager to get back home.
Mariah Friberg is one of them. She came to the Livestock Events Center to keep her horses safe. Each day, more than once a day, you’ll find her here cleaning her horses stalls out, and making sure they are in good shape. Ask her about here escape from Antelope Valley and she says the fire was the worst she’s ever seen.
“I saw it blow up and it hit the road before me and I was like, I’ve gotta go. And I loaded what I could in the horse trailer. My sister road out my last one. And we came here,” she says…
