SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada Highway Patrol is urging drivers to use extra caution on the roads today with several areas, including Washoe County, still under flood watch. They are encouraging people to stay home if they can and to avoid driving through flooded roads and standing water.
Videos captured Thursday afternoon showed vehicles driving through several inches of water on local streets, with water rising well above the sidewalk in some areas in Sparks.
The National Weather Service says to never drive through standing water as the depths are unknown and that there could be hazards beneath the surface. NHP echoes that warning. They said driving on flooded roads can cause drivers to lose traction easily and even become stuck…
