Bug and Stallion fires near Reno near full containment as crews monitor hotspots

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Firefighters north of Reno continued making steady progress toward fully containing the Bug and Stallion fires, which have burned a combined 134,424 acres since igniting earlier this month.

The Bug Fire, which started Aug. 8 and was caused by human activity, has burned 93,733 acres and was 94% contained. The Stallion Fire, also caused by human activity, started Aug. 10, has burned 40,691 acres and was 95% contained.

A total of 244 personnel were assigned across the two incidents, which have been burning in tall grass, brush and pinyon-juniper fuels. Resources assigned included two crews, seven engines, two helicopters and 10 pieces of miscellaneous heavy equipment…
