Containment grows on Bull Fire

VERDI, Nev. (KOLO) – The Bull Fire has burned 1,529 acres and is 43% contained as of Monday, according to the U.S. Forest Service and Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue. The human-caused fire started Oct. 2, 2026, and it remains under investigation. There are 225 personnel assigned to the fire.

Containment efforts

Firefighters continue to make progress securing the fire, officials said. Pockets of heat remain in heavier fuels and in areas of steep, difficult-to-access terrain.

Crews will continue working directly along the fire’s edge where conditions allow, while strengthening existing containment features and assessing areas for suppression repair, according to officials. Aircraft will be used to support firefighters working in remote areas and to assist with remaining heat as needed.

The Hawk Fire burn scar continues to provide a containment feature along the eastern side of the fire, officials said. Crews will continue to patrol and secure the perimeter while working to keep the fire within its current footprint. Firefighters remain focused on protecting life, property, critical infrastructure and natural resources, according to officials.
