American Honey Princess visits Reno ahead of World Bee Day

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The American Honey Princess visited Reno to educate students about bees and pollinators ahead of World Bee Day on Wednesday.

Oceana Escribano, the national spokesperson for the American Beekeeping Federation, gave a presentation at Swope Middle School on Monday. She was selected for the title based on her communication skills and knowledge of the beekeeping industry.

“One third of the food on your plate is pollinated by insects, 80% of those being honeybees,” Escribano said. “So honeybees are directly linked to one third of the food that you consume.”…
