HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Eleven residents remain in hotels after July’s Darby House Senior Apartment fire.
According to Henrico County leaders, residents are being supported by the Darby House Resident Fire Recovery Fund, managed by United Way. There are three residents in other hotels being paid for by their personal insurance.
“Around $600K has come in, of which $5K was community crowdsourced. This has been a tremendous effort, and the funds will be used to support the former Darby House residents in obtaining and maintaining safe, permanent housing. The fund also supports case management and case coordination efforts through community partners like NRC and SPAN center, so that residents may receive wrap-around services which are a critical piece of the recovery efforts,” said Deputy County Manager, Monica Smith-Callahan.
