RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond’s Economic Development Authority (EDA) is kicking the Flying Squirrels out of the Diamond and warning that they would otherwise be treated as trespassers.
In a letter sent Sept. 21, EDA President Angie Rodgers states that The Diamond is owned by the city of Richmond and operated by the EDA.
Navigators Baseball is the group behind the Flying Squirrels. Rodgers says their contract for The Diamond automatically ended when they moved into the new CarMax Park. Because no new agreement exists, the team and its staff no longer have the right to enter the old stadium or its grounds…
