17-year-old arrested, charged with murder of 16-year-old in Richmond triple shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two arrests have been made in connection to a Saturday night triple shooting in Richmond that left a 16-year-old boy dead. A 17-year-old Richmond boy has been charged with his murder.

Just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike after they heard gunfire.

When they arrived, they found two women and one 16-year-old boy who had all been shot. The women were taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The 16-year-old died at the scene.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, Richmond detectives arrested two people in connection to the teenager’s homicide.

According to police, an unidentified 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The second arrest was of 32-year-old Kareen Clyburn of Henrico County, who was charged with possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. A police spokesperson told 8News that the department could not share any details as to how Clyburn is connected to this incident at this time.
