CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – Jovanna Evans is still trying to grapple with the reality of losing one of her close friends, Barbie Perez.
“She lived a good life, she lived a fun life and it sucks that this is how it had to end,” said Evans. “I’ve been trying to keep myself busy with helping the family so that I don’t have to think about it so I’m not stuck in my emotions, but it’s very hard.”
On April 13, Perez was shot and killed outside her family’s home on Shady Creek Road.
Court documents reveal Perez was shot and killed by her boyfriend, Javonte Blackston.
