VCU Health, Richmond leaders break ground on Pauley Heart Center Pavilion

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — VCU Health and Richmond leaders broke ground on the new Pauley Heart Center Pavilion, taking one step towards tackling heart disease.

On Wednesday, April 29, university and city officials gathered in Richmond’s Diamond District to preview the state-of-the-art medical facility that is meant to increase access to the top heart center in the Commonwealth and set a national model for outpatient cardiovascular care.

“Cardiovascular care is really expanding today and we’ll get an opportunity to be out in the community,” said Michael Rao, president of VCU. “We cannot expect everyone to come to us at the medical center for a lot of different reasons, one of which is just parking. People are just put off by parking and sometimes people are not well and still put off by parking. But that will not be an issue here, we hope. But the reality is we do want a lot of people to be here.”…
