Hooray for Hopewell returns to celebrate America’s 250th birthday

After nearly 11 years, a version of the original Hooray for Hopewell will return next month. The free annual festival, held in Hopewell’s downtown area each September, had food vendors, live music, arts and crafts, entertainment and more.

The Hooray for Hopewell History 250 Celebration, planned by the Hopewell Department of Tourism, will be held from noon to 7 p.m. June 27 in the downtown area and Appomattox Manor in City Point.

The community is invited to enjoy an afternoon and evening celebrating local and national history. After it gets dark, a fireworks show will take place over the Appomattox River to conclude the event that commemorates the country’s 250th anniversary…
