Superintendent of major LA school district resigns after FBI search

The superintendent of one of the largest school districts in the nation has resigned, officials announced on Monday, June 22. It comes several months after the FBI served a search warrant at his home and office in Southern California.

The Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education said it “acknowledged” receipt of a letter of resignation from Superintendent Alberto Carvalho effective Sunday, June 21.

“The Board remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring stability, continuity, and continued progress through strong leadership. Our focus remains unchanged: providing every student with a high-quality education, supporting our dedicated workforce, and maintaining the trust of the communities we serve,” the district said in a statement…
