The city of Fontana recently received the “Clean California Community” designation — the first city in San Bernardino County to receive the honor. For Mayor Acquanetta Warren, the accomplishment would not have been possible without the help of the resident volunteers.
“I’m just honored — we met all their designations, we signed their pledge and Fontana has been trying to clean up for years,” Warren said. “Sometimes we just have volunteer groups that come in and say, ‘Mayor, do you mind if we go around city hall and pick up any papers or cigarette butts?’
“To me, it tells the story of why people want to live, work and play in Fontana.”…
