$194K Fiber Optic Cable Theft Disrupts Communications In San Bernardino; 9 Arrested

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Nine people were arrested Tuesday after investigators linked them to the theft of underground AT&T fiber optic cable that caused two days of critical infrastructure communication outages in San Bernardino.

The investigation began March 31, 2026, at about 6 p.m., near East Fairway Drive and North Crossroads Drive, where investigators with the Sheriff’s Department Rural Crimes Task Force responded to a reported theft of fiber optic cable.
