Great white sharks gather off California coast as soaring temperatures spark worrying trend

An unusual uptick in young great white sharks off the coast of Southern California has disrupted a host of recreational water activities on the state’s popular coastline as some fishermen reportedly attempt to catch the sharks themselves.

Experts have said that extreme marine heat in the Pacific Ocean is causing unseasonal warmth in the region, leading more mature great white sharks and their offspring to venture to California in February, more than a month sooner than normal.
