VSP: High-speed crash claims life of 31-year-old Roanoke driver

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Roanoke man.

The crash happened at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, May 25 on Archway Road, near Miracle Lane in Botetourt County.

According to VSP, the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling west and attempted to pass a slower vehicle in no passing zone at a high rate of speed. The driver apparently swerved back to the right, lost control, ran off the left side of the roadway, down an embankment, and struck some trees.
