BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking public opinion on a STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study on possible safety and operational improvements in Bedford County.
The proposed improvements would be for the intersections of Rte. 221 (Forest Rd.) at Enterprise Dr./Vista Centre Dr. along with Enterprise Dr. at Homestead Dr./Brook Park Pl.
Within the study limits, Forest Rd. average 26,000 to 29,000 vehicles per day (vpd) and has a posted speed limit of 45 mph. Enterprise Dr. averages 18,000 vpd and Homestead Dr. averages 6,100 vpd; both posted speed limits at 35 mph, according to VDOT.
VDOT says it’s inviting residents and travelers to take an online survey regarding corridor priorities. The input will be used to assist with develop improvement alternatives that’ll be looked over and presented during another time for public comment scheduled for some time in 2026…
