FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — People in Franklin County are speaking up about possible zoning changes they say could shape the future of the community for years to come.
At the center of the discussion is a proposed zoning language that would allow some industrial projects, including data centers, to build “by right” in certain parts of the county if they meet local requirements. That means developers could move forward without needing additional approval from county leaders.
County officials say there are no current plans for data centers in Franklin County. Even so, many residents believe now is the time to put protections in place before any large projects are proposed…
