In celebration of the transition from Montvale Water to Bedford Water (BW), BW hosted a signing ceremony on June 15. At the request of the Virginia Health Department (VDH), BW has been providing maintenance support to Montvale for almost a year due to issues caused by contractors laying fiber optic line in the area. Even though this process was started at the request of the VDH, it still needed input from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), who had provided a preexisting loan to Montvale Water.The transition needed approval from the State Corporation Commission (SCC); this approval process took months to complete, butthe June 15 signing signals the end of this journey.
Brian Key, BW Executive Director, opened the ceremony by saying, “We would like to thank Bob Karnes and Betty Carter for over 22years of service to keep the water flowing in the Montvale community. We hope they will now be able to enjoy that RV.”
