ROANOKE, Va. – Long before Roanoke was even a city, one family business was already putting down roots. Oakey’s Funeral Service is celebrating 160 years of serving the Roanoke Valley — a milestone that predates the city itself.
“Oakey’s is 1866; Roanoke came in 1882, I believe,” said Sammy Oakey III, president of Oakey’s Funeral Service.
