Virginia Tech Hokies News: Eye-opening pitch dominance, recruiting destination, more

After opening the 2026 season with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Old Dominion, the Virginia Tech women’s soccer team, just two years removed from an Elite Eight appearance, looked to build on their start to the season at home on Sunday night at Thompson Field against VMI.

After peppering the Keydets in the first half and only finding the back of the net once, the Hokies scored two goals in the first 40 seconds of the second half and finished the half with five goals in a 6-0 victory to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Anna Weir opened the scoring in the first half before the floodgates opened in the second half.

Letizia Rossi scored 14 seconds into the second half before Johannah Bradly made it 3-0 23 seconds later. Ellie Robertson, Gabby Ciocca, and Eliana Salama also found the back of the net in the second half for Virginia Tech, which will host Liberty on Thursday at 7 p.m.
