Roanoke – Today will bring plenty of sunshine with afternoon highs reaching the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. Roanoke and Lynchburg are expected to peak around 89 degrees, while Danville could reach 90, which is several degrees above average for august.
The heat continues to build as we head into the early week and becomes much more noticeable on Monday. Temperatures are likely to reach the mid 90s across the region. A moderate to major heat risk is in place, meaning the combination of heat and humidity could impact those sensitive to hot weather. Make sure to take plenty of breaks indoors and stay hydrated!
This wont be a one day warm up. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s through much of the week, with the hottest conditions arriving Wednesday and Thursday. We will be about 12 to 13 degrees above average by mid to late next week…
