ROANOKE County, Va. (WDBJ) – Roanoke County Public Schools leaders say they rely on a system called Raptor Alert to manage emergency lockdowns, attendance rolls and law enforcement alerts. The system puts those tools directly into the hands of every employee.
During a lockdown drill, an intercom message stated, “Lockdown, lockdown. This is a lockdown. This is an emergency.”
“When we do the lockdown drill using the app, any teacher can lock down the building and it sends a message to our intercom system,” said Tammy Newcomb, executive director of administration for Roanoke County Public Schools.
