ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – It’s one of the sweetest days of the year in Roanoke. The Strawberry Festival returns for its 46th year.
Thousands gathered at Elmwood Park, some for the first time and others for the 30th time, to have the festival’s most famous dish: the strawberry shortcake.
“They do a shortbread shortcake, which you don’t get a lot,” Roanoke resident Maria Hambrick said. “It’s nice to come and get that and have a little mix-up from a normal shortcake.”…
