ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) After months of discussions, planning and tough decisions that included erasing a deficit of almost $19 million, Roanoke City Council approved the adoption of its fiscal year 2027 budget with a 5-2 vote. The budget totaled $421.5 million.
Mayor Joe Cobb said in his eight years as a council member, this was the toughest budget season.
“We’ve always had a balanced budget, and we’ve always had the best information that we have, and right now, we’re just seeing a convergence of a lot of challenges,” he said. “Revenue is slowing, and the costs of doing business are going up.”…
