ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Honor Flight Rochester is looking to bring a new generation of veterans to Washington, D.C., with a particular focus on those who served during the Cold War.
The organization provides veterans with trips to the nation’s capital to visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifice. Veterans from all service eras are eligible, but officials said there is a growing need to reach those who served during an often-overlooked period of American military history.
“What we’re kind of looking to expand into, as we get through the Vietnam era, is getting into that section before Desert Storm,” Honor Flight Rochester’s Steve Rapp said. “So we’re moving into that era between ’75 and ’89, prior to Desert Storm.”…
