ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rising grocery and household costs are putting increasing pressure on working families whose paychecks are not keeping pace, U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said Monday during a visit to a Rochester grocery store.
Gillibrand said the widening gap between wages and everyday expenses is forcing families to make difficult decisions about food, utilities and other necessities.
“That combination of higher prices and lower wages means a disaster for working people,” Gillibrand said. “This exacerbates food insecurity and forces parents across America to make those difficult choices about paying a utility bill, buying groceries or settling for less quality food for their families.”…
