(KTLA) — A police officer is accused of illegally accessing California Department of Motor Vehicles information and placing a GPS tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s car, according to prosecutors.
Bell Police Department officer James Ixcoy, 30, is accused of illegally using a DMV database on July 17 to run a registration inquiry on his ex-girlfriend’s former boyfriend, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said Monday. The next day, prosecutors allege, Ixcoy placed a tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s car to spy on them.
“Mr. Ixcoy, a sworn law enforcement officer, is accused of going to great lengths to secretly and surreptitiously find information about two people who were totally unaware he was abusing his authority as a police officer,” Hochman said…
