Webster homeowner describes ‘traumatic’ experience as tornado hits house

Webster, N.Y. (WHAM) — Jim Monfort described the moment a tornado tore through his Halesworth Lane home as a “traumatic experience.”

“It sounded like a train,” he said. “There was a low grumble, and then just quickly sped up to a roar.”

Five days later, tree limbs still cover Monfort’s front lawn, nearly hiding his home from view.

A tarp hangs beneath damaged siding, while shingles are missing from the roof.

“The path came through the trees, and one of my neighbors next door said he saw it was coming to the left of my house,” Monfort recalled. “Then it took a sharp right turn and it came over our house, and just went between the two houses next door.”

Monfort said he’s lived through storms before, but nothing like this…
