Water main break creates two sinkholes in Penfield, forcing people to leave their condos

PENFIELD, N.Y. — People were forced to leave their homes overnight in Penfield after a water main break created two sinkholes near a condominium community on Penn Lane.

News10NBC’s Garrett Chan was live at the Forrest Hill complex, off Old Penfield Road, where part of the road remains closed off with yellow tape.

Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say the water main break started around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, creating “very large sinkholes” that caused part of the road to cave in. News10NBC sees a car that tipped into a sinkhole and mud piling up. We spoke with one resident about what may have happened…
