ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The shortage of nursing home beds in our region has reached a crisis level after the state shut down Waterview Heights, leaving local hospitals and families struggling to find care for loved ones.
On any given day, every hospital in the Rochester region is boarding dozens of people who don’t need hospital-level care but have nowhere else to go because all area nursing homes are full.
