Webster police ramp up traffic enforcement with new patrol unit

WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Webster Police Department is enhancing traffic enforcement by stationing patrol officers in high-priority areas to crack down on traffic violations and crimes in progress.

According to a press release, the department says that 365 days a year, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., two patrol officers will work opposite 12-hour shifts at hotspot locations.

“With the increase in our staffing, we were able to create a new unit which can solely focus on traffic,” said Webster Police Lt. Kevin Johnson. “Traffic is one of the biggest complaints we have in town, so it’s a quality-of-life issue.”…
