Greystone hosts U.S. Open Qualifier, four Rochester natives advance

WALWORTH, N.Y. (WROC) — The Links at Greystone golf course hosted the 2026 U.S. Open Local Qualifier on Monday, May 11th. The top five professional and amateur golfers advanced to the U.S. Open Final Qualifying for a chance to compete in the 2026 U.S. Open Championship at Hinnecock Hills Country Club in Southampton, New York, on June 19-21.

Over 70 golfers competed in total, with a number of them being native to the Rochester area, including four top-five finishers.

Jackson Ormond of Rochester was the top finisher, and the only golfer to break par, finishing the round -2. Tied for second place were Aiden Spampinato of Rochester, Owen Corby of Pittsford, and Caleb Bopp from Fishers, Indiana. All three finished at +1. The final qualifier was Yaroslav Merkulov of Sodus, who finished with a +3 score…
