New Fairport weekend patrol detail launches Friday with four deputies on duty

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is starting a new overtime detail in Fairport to boost public safety on weekend nights. This comes almost a month after a fight broke out outside a bar on North Main Street. The fight was caught on video, and you can see one man punch a woman in the face.

New security detail

Four deputies will work the detail Friday and Saturday nights, paid for by the village. The high-visibility patrols will start Friday, May 22.

Fairport police officers get first choice to work the overtime shifts. If they decline, sheriff’s deputies will fill the spots.

The deputies will report to the A Zone sergeant during their shifts.

Other possible solutions

After the fight in April, Fairport put up temporary security cameras to try and prevent more fights. The village took the cameras down in early May, but some people wanted them to stay…
