4 charged with arson in blaze that hurt Rockford firefighter

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Four Rockford women are charged with arson after a fire on May 20 that hurt a firefighter.

Stephanie Hart, 36, is charged with property arson, residential arson, five counts of aggravated arson, aggravated arson resulting in injury to a firefighter and aggravated animal cruelty for the death of a canine.

Three other women are wanted on the same charges. Officials identified the women as Cierra Smith, 37, Tearra Smith, 38, and Jewell Shanice McDonald, 34.

On May 20, Rockford Fire Department was called out to the 1300 block of Andrews Street for heavy smoke and fire coming from a home.

Upon arrival, firefighters were told that adults and multiple children stayed at the residence, and none were seen outside…
