🔴 LIVE BLOG: Severe storms expected Thursday in the stateline

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The First Alert Weather team and WIFR staff provide real-time updates as potential severe weather-producing storms roll through the stateline.

LIVE UPDATES

  • Severe Thunderstorm Warning for eastern Ogle County, northern DeKalb County, Winnebago County, McHenry County and Boone County
  • Possible flooding at Harlem and Alpine reported. WIFR working to learn more.
  • Flash Flood Warning issued for Winnebago County
  • Flash Flood Warning issued for Jo Daviess and Stephenson counties until 11 p.m. Thursday
  • Tornado Watch issued for Boone, DeKalb Lee, McHenry, Ogle and Winnebago counties until 9 p.m. Thursday.
  • Tornado Watch issued for Green, Rock and Walworth counties in Wisconsin until 9 p.m. Thursday
  • Tornado Watch issued for Carroll, Jo Daviess, Stephenson and Whiteside counties until 3 p.m. Thursday

Multiple rounds of storms are expected Thursday, with the first round expected in late morning, early afternoon followed by another round between 4-8 p.m.

A “moderate” level 4/5 risk of severe weather is in place areawide Thursday.

All threats will be possible, including damaging winds, large hail, torrential rainfall, flash flooding, and tornadoes.

Make sure you know where to go in case any warnings are issued for your area. Today is a day where treating Severe Thunderstorm Warnings like Tornado Warnings would be wise, given the threat for widespread 70-80+ mph winds…
