The annual Leaf River Summer Daze festival drew residents and visitors for a weekend of family-friendly activities and community celebration.
The event, held June 5-7, featured a variety of attractions, including a fireworks display, live music, a car show and a tractor pull, according to a community announcement. The festival also included a craft and market fair, a K9 demonstration by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office and a church service in the park.
Rain couldn’t dampen spirits
Despite rain during Sunday’s Grand Parade, the weather did not overshadow the weekend’s festivities. The rainfall was welcomed by many in the region, especially local farmers, according to the announcement.
“Events like Summer Daze only happen because so many people are willing to give their time, talents and support,” the Leaf River Summer Daze Committee said, according to the announcement. “We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, vendors, emergency services, entertainers and everyone who attended and helped make this year’s festival a success.”
Planning for next year underway
The committee expressed appreciation for the support of the Village of Leaf River, local businesses and organizations, as well as the sponsors of the car show and tractor pull, according to the announcement. They also recognized the dedication of year-round volunteers who spend months planning the festival.
