Ogle County board delays permit decision for controversial rodeo venue

OGLE COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) – What many expected to be a final decision on the future of a controversial rodeo venue in Ogle County came to an unexpected stop Tuesday night after county leaders announced they would delay taking action and send the issue back for further review.

The Ogle County board was expected to take final action on whether to revoke the special use permit for Rancho La Esperanza, a venue that has faced criticism from animal rights advocates over concerns surrounding how animals are treated during rodeo-style competitions held at the property.
