MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) – Following the lead of a Boone County food pantry, Regional Office of Education #4 launches an initiative to support students, families and community members.
A “Blessing Box” is installed outside Summit Academy, 1102 Evans Ave., containing non-perishable food and hygiene products. It’s available 24 hours a day for anyone facing food insecurity or other challenges.
The project was inspired by a similar initiative started by Empower Boone, who donated the box built by a local Boy Scout troop.
Summit Academy was chosen as the location of the Blessing Box because of its visibility along Evans Ave. and its proximity to the Boys and Girls Club…
