Company that owns Rockford Career College to pay $1M to resolve lawsuit

(WIFR) – The Pennsylvania company that operates multiple for-profit colleges, including Rockford Career College, agrees to pay more than $1 million to resolve allegations it inflated graduation statistics and did not return Federal Student Aid Money.

American Higher Education Development Corporation or AHED, operates Rockford Career College in Illinois, Madison Media Institute in Wisconsin and Stautzenberger College in Ohio.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said AHED exaggerated its graduation rates in reports to the United States Department of Education by failing to include certain students who dropped out of AHED programs within a certain time frame. The U.S. also says AHED failed to return $413,000 in Federal Student Aid for those students to the Department of Education…
