JANESVILLE – Residents in Janesville who’ve applied for FEMA aid for residential flood damage from the April 17 flash flooding say the process so far is moving briskly, with FEMA signaling that people should expect the agency’s damage inspectors to visit them within days of their application.
Town of Harmony resident Leslie Vaughn said she put in a FEMA application for property damage to her home in the town’s Starview Heights subdivision on July 5, just two days after she learned FEMA had authorized disaster funding for Rock County.
A week later, an inspector from FEMA came to her home and the homes of several neighbors hit by water damage in the April floods. It took less than an hour for the inspection. Vaughn now has a letter that came in the mail that says she could soon learn the outcome of her application — whether, and how much she’ll be awarded in disaster aid — in a week to 10 days…
