Girlfriend of Illinois Man Who Killed 7 Family Members Charged After His Death

Romeo Nance’s girlfriend reportedly withheld crucial information from authorities to prevent police from arresting him

The girlfriend of Illinois suspected murderer Romeo Nance was arrested Wednesday for allegedly preventing law enforcement from finding her boyfriend.

Kyleigh Cleveland, 21, is facing an obstruction of justice charge for telling the police she didn’t know Nance’s phone number as authorities were searching for him, The Independent reported.

Authorities said that Nance killed seven of his family members in two separate Illinois homes on Monday. He later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during a massive police manhunt for him.

Though Cleveland agreed to be questioned by the police, detectives believe she didn’t disclose important information to keep them from arresting Nance— the father of her three-year-old son.

A judge ordered that Cleveland be under home arrest with an electronic monitor.

Nance, 23, had allegedly killed his mother, Tameka Nance, 47, aunt Christine Esters, 38, uncle William Esters II, 35, brother Joshua Nance, 31, sister Alexandria Nance, 20, along with his teen sisters, according to the Joliet Police Department.
