ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – These pesky clouds! All the states off to our west have bright blue skies with bountiful sunshine. However, here in the stateline clouds have managed to stay put. These clouds are close to the ground as well as they are less than a thousand feet high. A temperature inversion has allowed the clouds to stay put as the moisture cannot escape into the upper portions of our atmosphere. The clouds will stick around throughout the day reducing highs to the lower 40s.
