MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — An SUV went off the road and drove through multiple properties causing damage in a Machesney Park neighborhood on Friday.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and said the incident started around 1 p.m.
The vehicle hit a mailbox before barreling through the ramp of one home and eventually slammed into a porch, ending the destruction.
“I heard this crash, I thought something fell in my refrigerator, but then I thought maybe it’s in the garage, then I stood up and I said ‘no, it’s outside’ because it was louder than that,” said Nina, a homeowner on Cadet Road. “I came out and everyone was running next door to the car, so obviously I realized what happened after I looked outside.”
The driver looked to be a young man according to Nina. He was taken to the hospital and his condition is currently unknown.
