In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Rockford Register Star has partnered with La Onda, a newly-formed nonprofit organization, to help share and celebrate the impact of Hispanic and Latino people, businesses and organizations in and around the Rockford area.

The Rockford Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (RRHCC) has become a vital resource for Hispanic entrepreneurs in the Rockford area. Spearheaded by Sully Cadengo, Ricardo Montoya Picazo, and Armando Cardenas, the chamber officially opened its office on September 14, 2021. Sully Cadengo, who serves as the president, identified a pressing need for support and guidance among local Latino business owners, leading to the creation of this organization.
