Rockford trucking company advocates for stricter trucking regulations and safety

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford trucking company Meiborg Enterprises is leading a fight against other companies evading federal trucking safety laws. CEO Zach Meiborg is working to create an even playing field for all companies in the industry. He states that some companies manipulate electronic logging devices to overwork drivers, which puts all drivers at risk.

These non-compliant practices involve companies as close as the Chicago area, creating loopholes to abuse the system. Meiborg has been advocating against these trucking industry malpractices for several years. The primary issue is companies overworking their drivers, which poses significant safety concerns on the road.

Zach Meiborg, CEO of Meiborg Enterprises, highlighted the disparity between compliant and non-compliant operations. “We’re limited from a compliance standpoint to operate 7.5 hours a day; these guys are running 16, 18, 20 hours a day going down the road,” Meiborg said. “It’s unsafe, and it’s causing a major disruption in our market.” Non-compliant companies evade mandatory driving limits by electronically resetting drivers’ logging devices.
