Man sentenced for N. 2nd Street hit-and-run involving Rockford teen

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Rockford man will spend time in prison for a hit-and-run crash that sent a 15-year-old girl to the hospital last summer.

Tyrone Cochran, 33, of Rockford, pleaded guilty April 22 to aggravated leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and aggravated reckless driving.

As part of the negotiated plea, Cochran was ordered to spend eight years in prison for leaving the scene of a crash and six years in prison for aggravated reckless driving.

Both sentences will be served at the same time and at 50 percent, according to court records. Cochran will also receive credit for 294 days served in jail. Cochran will be on mandatory supervised release for a year following his release from prison…
